Specialist 1:1 Tuition

The Centre offers 1:1 tuition in Literacy and Maths by Specialist Dyslexia/ Dyscalculia Tutors. The essence of this teaching delivers a structured multisensory programme designed specifically to the individual’s needs and learning style. Specialist tuition is available for children from 6 to 16 years.

The magnetic Alphabet Arc is fantastic for practising word building/spelling in a fun, tangible, colourful, multisensory way!

Small Group Sessions

These sessions can provide a great boost to self esteem through working with others experiencing similar difficulties. Targetted sessions focusing on developing reading and writing skills are generally held during the school holidays according to demand.

Coloured Overlays

Coloured overlays aim to reduce Visual Stress, perceptual distortions experienced whilst reading text. They can help increase reading fluency and speed, reduce headaches and increase the duration of comfortable reading. The symptoms can occur despite normal vision. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people with dyslexia experience visual stress, but although they may co-exist, visual stress and dyslexia are different conditions.

Dav Pilkey Comic Books

Dav Pilkey, the creator of Dog Man and Captain Underpants, was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD as a child, calling them his "superpowers" rather than disabilities. His struggles in school, including being sent to the hallway, led him to create his own comic books, which became the foundation for his bestselling series, which many of our children love.
